1 If the LORD had not been on our side— let Israel say—
2 if the LORD had not been on our side

How would Israel have said - "if the LORD had not been on our side"

In triumphant shouts
as victorious slogan

...In sober realization
as silent admission


let me say "... if the LORD had not been on my side..."
To admit one's dependence on God is not as easy as it seems.
